Thursday, October 08, 2009 Pain in the butt --Cracked open by Jane at 12:17 PM So I'd gotten a new GP/Gynecologist who didn't like the looks of my lipoma (see Sept. & Oct. 2004). Last year, she sent me for an MRI which confirmed it as benign, but at this year's checkup it had been bothering me some. Yesterday, I had it removed and am now typing this while standing. And it is one, too. It's early days, though, and it takes less time the more things I figure out. So far, I've found that it's a lot easier to just post a little thing that I'm thinking or doing, and that in the past I've said, "Oh, I should blog that," but then I'd have to write a lot more and end up forgetting or not caring enough. FB is more oriented to minutiae, thus far. I can see the love/reason of Twitter (but it takes me so long to type out a text, that it's quicker to have to turn on the computer, wait for it to load up, and then log on. Not to mention that I have to pay 20 cents for every text/picture in or out.) I just can't see posting a...book review (I read a lot of weird stuff, normal stuff, too, but still...) or my thoughts on my spiritual beliefs/practices (weird to a lot of people) or...a lot of things. Although, I did just go back and look at some of my later posts; there is not a lot of *substance* there, but also some things that I wouldn't feel comfortable (yet?) putting on FB, either. As a friend put it, "how I will be able to comment on anything more controversial than the weather..." # (0) comments Friday, November 21, 2008 Ah, well.... --Cracked open by Jane at 1:19 PM It was good while it lasted. I actually did better than I thought I would. What did me in was the computer having been turned off unbeknown to me, so when I came into the den to post before going to bed, I just couldn't fathom waiting for everything to turn on and load before THEN posting and going to bed. # (0) comments Thursday, November 13, 2008 Catalan Tomato Bread/NaBloPoMo-Day 13 --Cracked open by Jane at 11:00 PM So simple, and so good. Cut bread into thick slices (a rustic-type, but french is fine) Toast bread-on the grill is best, but under the broiler works, too Rub some raw garlic clove onto one side Rub & squeeze a cut tomato onto bread Sprinkle with salt and pepper Drizzle with a nice extra virgin olive oil (the last two steps can be reversed, if desired) A bit of fruit, maybe some cheese, a nice glass of wine. Sing. Couldn't get any lightning, though. Until he came home from work! It would have been over 5 hours. P. and this boy have only had one playdate (what is the correct word for older kids? Playdate is really for younger ones. BID) which went fairly well but was only for a couple of hours. I did say no (sometimes, I need to work on that), as we go out for lunch on half-days, since the kids get home before noon. It really bugged me, and I realized later that if boy's stepmom had called and explained that she was going to be out of town or whatever (never really did find out the reason), I probably would have said yes. Dad did not follow "Mom Rules" of asking for help, so I didn't even give his request a thought because of it. Sexist? Probably. Fair? Whatever...it's not fair to ask me to watch your kid, who I don't really know, for more than an hour or so, unless we are really good friends. I had a feeling that he could be the type of parent who would not let his son come to P's birthday party because of it, but thankfully, I was wrong about that. # (0) comments Monday, November 10, 2008 Scenes from My Town/NaBloPoMo-Day 10 --Cracked open by Jane at 10:56 PM This is not a good picture--I'll have to take another. This little place has been through several failed restaurant variations. Now, it is Indian/Persian/American AND a Hookah Bar! In Saint Charles! How odd. This might actually last for a while, though. This building is *directly* across the street from the college. # (0) comments |
